Sarah Palin turns the power on in Madison
TweetIf Sarah Palin can continue delivering speeches like the one today in Madison, Wisconsin — and I see no reason why she can’t — then the GOP nomination is hers for the taking. Whether that’s good or bad really depends, but there’s no one else in the field who shows any sign of being able to channel the Tea Party-type righteous indignation (against both parties) which has not yet crested in this country.*
With lines demanding that the GOP in Congress to learn to “fight like a girl,” and characterizing the President’s economic policy as “Obama’s bullet train to bankruptcy,” she continues to show an ability to define the scene with more style and concision than any other player, much as she did with regard to ObamaCare by coining “death panels.”

And when she says that the 2012 fight “starts here in Madison,” and closes with “Mister President, game on!” she sure sounds like she is declaring. And she also provides something for folk to cheer for, in a context where the establishment Republicans seem most gifted at dampening the spirits of those who gave them power in the first place.
…
*Addendum: OK, I’m forgetting Michele Bachmann and even — potentially — Rand Paul, who obviously each have a base with the Tea Party. It’s a Freudian forgetfulness, if you will, because I don’t personally see them as having staying power in the fight for the nomination.
