Dog swallows five toy cats, whole

Dog NewsA story from Cambridgshire in England, via the BBC:

Snowy, a white West Highland terrier, was given a routine X-ray after her owner brought her in to the Cromwell Veterinary Group at Huntingdon.

She had been unwell for about two weeks, associate vet Carol Barker said.

Ms Barker, who operated on Snowy and retrieved the toy cats, said: “We were quite surprised when we saw a little cat’s head sticking out of her tummy.”

She said the larger “mother” toy cat was about 5cm (2in), with the other four smaller cats measuring 2.5 cm (1in).

Well, that’s a mouthful. It’s the fact that the cats were swallowed whole that is the most amazing thing. Of-course they weren’t terrible large.

Snowy the West Highland terrier is said to be doing well, but I’d limit her to encounters with real cats from now on. They tend to resist being swallowed whole.
