Dog shoots man
The first rule of gun safety is “never point your gun in an unsafe direction.” And yes, that does and should include leaving it lying on a seat pointing in your direction, loaded or not.
So, we have just another dog-shoots-man story, from New Zealand, as reported in the Brisbane Times:
A 40-year-old Northland man was shot in the backside while in the back seat of a car in Te Kopuru, 13km southeast of Dargaville, on Saturday afternoon.
Police told the Northern Advocate it appeared the dog, which was in the back seat with the man, might have accidentally stepped on the trigger of the .22 rifle, causing it to fire.
The man is now recovering after being flown to Whangarei Hospital by helicopter where he had surgery to remove the bullet from his left buttock.
